Bliss’ ADGA Genetics Page
With few Oberhasli bucks in the area, we started breeding our beautiful only eared-doe Solace to our own LaManchas and have had some beautiful mahogany-colored, elf-eared grades, including Bliss. Combining the incredible depth and dairy strength of both Fish and Solace, Bliss is an exceptionally large and strong doe with a vary capacious mammary. She has had a bout of mastitis that has left her uneven between the halves, but aside from this she is an impressive doe and a fun one with her fuzzy elf-ears. We were able to get her out once as a 3-year old in 2014 to the Washington State Fair where she placed 3rd in a very competitive class of linear appraised excellents and permanent champions–who says it is less competitive in grades?!
Wow did this doe blossom in 2015! In the milk parlor, she ratcheted herself up to an average daily production of 14 pounds per day. And in the show ring, she took that very competitive NW Grade ring by storm–winning 4 GCHs at her first show out in 2015. She then went off to Nationals where she placed 4th in a class of 15 does, 10 of which were already permanent champions. At the Oregon State Fair, she handily won the Grand Champion title in the first year that the breed is being fully recognized by the State Fair. And then went off to the Washington State Fair, where she won GCH, BOB, and BUOB in an even more competitive show.
As an age doe, Bliss continues to be a competitive doe routinely in the first two spots of competitive BOB classes, and deserving got a permanent score of Final Score 92 EEEE. She is also our herd boss, a high-headed, determined doe, she keeps us on our toes and keeps us laughing hard at her frequent antics. She might be a Grade, but with beautiful confirmation and a great personality, she is absolutely the type of doe that we breed for.
