Behind the Name

  • Qannik (kun-nik) is the Inupiaq word for snowflake. Dave has a hard time pronouncing her name, so she also goes by the fitting name of "Snow."

Qannik has truly spectacular and stylish general appearance. One of the most smoothly blended, long and level does we have she is an absolute beauty to watch walk across the field. She freshened with a single, very small doe kid and unfortunately is not showing us the level of capacity this year needed to keep her place in our ever-full barn. Her balance across the scorecard was really brought home to us in our linear appraisal session when this lovely little lady scored “Very Goods” across the board and ended with a very respectable final score of 87.  Although she doesn’t fit well in our herd, she would make a perfect animal for a small herd or 4H project. The only thing more spectacular than her style is her incredibly sweet personality.
