Alchemy’s ADGA Genetics Pedigree
Alchemy along with littermate brother Occult are the last set of kids from our herd matriarch, Bewitched. Bewitched passed away a few months after they were born, she leaves an incredible legacy with seven daughters and one son having already finished their SGCH and at least two more daughters (Firefly and Alchemy) who have a strong chance to bring that number up to 10. We recognize we were so blessed to have Bewitched both as an incredible show animal, but also as a true brood animal who produced the highest of quality offspring almost regardless of who she was bred to. Having Honor as her final breeding is very exciting. We foresee this combination adding length and levelness, as well as “socked on” mammary systems with strong attachments all around and well-placed teats (something some of our other lines have struggled with). As a yearling, Alchemy was a tall, long, lanky doe with lots of flatness of bone and room to grow, including a very wide eschueteon.
Alchemy was bred for a fall kidding to Blade in a line-breeding effort off of Bewitched after we’ve seen such incredible kids from the equally close line-breeding of Firefly to Blade. Alchemy gave birth to a set of quad bucks from Blade in November 2014. She freshened with an as-expected beautifully attached mammary and is milking well for a first freshener. We can tell she is going to be slow to mature and would like to see more width in the front end, but other than that she is a beautiful last daughter of Bewitched that will undoubtedly follow in the footsteps of her seven Champion sisters.
Alchemy is only for sale because we have double-digit 2 year olds and need to get that number down to 4-5 maximum, and we are keeping her brother. She is a truly lovely doe with lots of potential. She would likely do best in a smaller herd where she didn’t have to fight quite so many big, grouchy older does for food. As well as could get the special attention she needs to feel more secure in her role as a dairy and show animal, currently she is a bit difficult to handle. There is absolutely no doubt in our mind that will mature to be an awesome animal, we just have to make especially tough decisions this year. Ideally we would like to find Alchemy a home where she could reach her full potential, and thus LA, show, and/or DHIA herds will be preferred.
