Our one Oberhasli, Solace, is proud to be our one earred goat on the farm, she is a fun doe and one of the last remaining does of Jeanne White’s outstanding Oberhasli herd. One year with our one Oberhasli we won GCH, BUOB, and BOB for the District VII Oberhasli Speciality and then went onto to do it all over again that fall at the highly competitive Oregon State Fair–yeah, Solace has been fun! Her daughter Bliss has a quirky, fun personality to match her delightful elf ears and has beautiful general appearance and a capacious mammary.
This breeding is a line breeding on Tach Lach, the most influential LaMancha sire of the last decade, and is sure to add some of that fabulous long, large, and level style Tach daughters and Kastdemur’s animals in general are so known for. And sure enough, we are really impressed with Dreamer’s general appearance. She is actually the tallest of our 2-year olds, despite being the “Ober-cross.” She is sharp at the withers, smooth throughout the front end, has great dairy ribbing, and a long back structure. She freshened with a nice, very functional mammary system. The rear udder is more globular and prominent and the teats not perfectly plumb, but overall well attached with a strong fore udder and demonstrating a strong will to milk. Her dam Bliss is frequently our strongest producer in the herd, milking easily over 12 pounds a day. We have no doubt that Dreamer will follow in this extremely productive manner and likely just needs another year or two to pull everything together.
