We are just so impressed with our Recorded Grades. Bliss is, without a doubt, our herd queen: she has a strong personality, tops the production charts with an average 14 pounds, and took the very competitive northwest Grade ring by storm in 2015 winning both Oregon and Washington State Fairs. Her daughter Ecstasy freshened as a yearling milker in summer 2015 and immediately impressed us with her large, strong frame and beautiful wide rear udder. Felicity inverses this line’s characteristic red and black, but color aside she is already following her mother’s and sister’s style with superb dairy strength and width throughout.

Like Bliss’s other daughters, Felicity really excels in general appearance and dairy strength. Her spring of rib, long lean neck, angulation throughout, and level topline make her a truly eye-catching doe. We’d like to see a bit more length in the fore udder and width in the rear udder, but this is clearly a doe who is going to excel in productivity and longevity.

In 2019, a year when the other Grades either didn’t settle or have struggled with health issues, Felicity has gotten to be the star of our Grade show. During our spring club show season she picked up five grand champions and one reserve, unfortunately only two of the championships were sanctioned. But we need not have feared a “two-legged” curse, as she then went on to win Champion at Clark County Fair, Oregon State Fair, and Reserve Champion in an especially competitive Washington State Fair. Even with only having a single doe kid (with ears!), she is milking an easy 10 pounds a day and has the flat bone pattern, depth of body, and angularity we love to see. Best of all, she is an easy keeper and an easy show goat, making “Grade day” one blissfully less stressful than “LaMancha day.”
