Behind the Name

  • Is there a better name for a Q-line kid born in 2020?! We may have debated which twin to keep, but there was never any question what the keeper kid's name would be.

Chamoisee or white, chamoisee or white!?! Well we nearly kept both, but given we a) were already keeping 4 Qamar kids, and b) we can and are repeating the breeding, we forced ourselves to choose. In our first ever crowdsourcing decision, we put up photos of Quads’ 2020 twins on facebook to help us decide which one to keep. We got over 100 opinions from breeders all over the world! Many good points were definitely made for each doe, and ultimately we decided to keep the chamoisee because she has slightly stronger pasterns, is a slightly more compact kid (we know both will get plenty of size), and well, her color. With every other Qamar kid being white as snow, we opted to mix it up a bit. And we’re thankful her twin Quinsy is nearby where we can watch her grow up and reach her full potential. Quarantina is bred to Cizeron to be a yearling milker, we are super excited to see her grow and freshen.  

Quarantina is a shining light of chamoisee goodness in what has been a very challenging 2021. She freshened absolutely lovely and is the exact “look” we like to see in a yearling, not overly mature, but still balanced and strong. We’re beyond excited for, although wish she (and her mom Quads) would’ve had doe kids, but again 2021 was not the year for such blessings.
