Qamar is an exciting combination of Quivira and Encore, two of our three fancy white does that truly soared during the 2018 show season. We had not planned to keep him, but when we lost Eclipse and Totality in quick succession, we kept everything we could. With his first few kids on the ground in late 2019 and then a large crop in 2020, we’re very glad that we kept him. Still waiting to see them freshen, but so far they are the most consistent kids we can remember since the early days of Tach. Most are admittedly white or chamoisee, but it’s not just their color that is consistent, every one is a stylish, flat-boned, wide eschuteoned, level and uphill general appearance and dairy strength knockout. We aren’t big on showing kids, but damn do we wish there had been shows in 2020 to bring out a junior get of his–we had plenty of options to make a real good one!

And Qamar’s a looker too, getting one of the best yearling buck appraisal scores in our herd’s history. Just maybe we’ll be so eager for shows when they return that we’ll have to take him to a buck show–who knows! Over a third of the herd is bred to him for 2021 (many repeat breedings), we kept all but one of his doe kids for ourselves in 2020, we’ll likely be tempted again, but count on all of you to keep us from hogging them all to ourselves.
