Our one Oberhasli, Solace, is proud to be our one earred goat on the farm, she is a fun doe and one of the last remaining does of Jeanne White’s outstanding Oberhasli herd.  One year with our one Oberhasli we won GCH, BUOB, and BOB for the District VII Oberhasli Speciality and then went onto to do it all over again that fall at the highly competitive Oregon State Fair–yeah, Solace has been fun!  Her daughter Bliss has a quirky, fun personality to match her delightful elf ears and has beautiful general appearance and freshened with a strong mammary system as a first freshener.  This breeding is a line breeding on Tach Lach, the most influential LaMancha sire of the last decade, and is sure to add some of that fabulous long, large, and level style Tach daughters and Kastdemur’s animals in general are so known for.

We are quite excited about this line-breeding on Bewitched!  This set of triplets at less than a month old are already demonstrating great wedgy-shapes with dairy ribbing, flat bones, and sharpness throughout, as well as smoothness of blending and levelness across the chine and loin with flat rumps from thurl to thurl.   And the best is yet to come, this was designed to be an “udder breeding,” with Buffy’s consistently stylish, beautifully attached mammaries and Bewitched’s production, we anticipate a beautiful, capacious mammary on this doe kid someday.

We were so excited when the ever-wonderful Rocha boys of Tideland Dairy Goats allowed us to lease Honor for our fall 2012 breeding.  Honor grabbed our attention because of his incredible strength of pedigree, a pedigree that hearkens back to a slightly more vintage Kastdemur LaMancha with does like Sprite, Gazette, and Bad Habits–does that were some of the first show-stoppingly large, level, and long does to signal a great change in LaMancha style.  We were likewise excited to see Chimera in the pedigree, our one Chalupa daughter Elena is considered by many to be the “stud muffin” on our farm for her angularity, dairy character, and exceptional back and rump structure–all characteristics consistent in the Hogg’s Hideaway progeny, and all characteristics we are always eager to continue improving upon.

Of course, general appearance and dairy character are not the only traits that shine through on a pedigree like this.  Every animal behind Honor demonstrated exceptional body capacity, and there are no shortage of beautiful mammaries to look back on.  There are only a few Honor daughters out there so far, but we got even more excited when Scott Rocha tagged us on a photo of a recently fresh yearling Honor daughter Tideland Azeil–look at her, wouldn’t you be excited too!?

Below is our 2013 Breeding List. Prices start on first freshener doe kids at $300 and incrementally go up from there based on show records, appraisals, and other performance. We typically only sell buck kids from permanent champion does with final appraisal scores of 90 or better, this year that is does #1-8. If we are fairly confident that a doe will finish and/or appraise 90 or better that year, we will also offer those kids up for sale. A $100 deposit will reserve a kid. We take two paid reservations per available gender on each bred doe, but will add you to the waiting list in case of triplets or quads.

We work hard to make our genetics accessible and look forward to working with you to find your next LaMancha. Avalon is another of our brood doe Aphrodite’s daughters and like Desi and Fish she is a doe that adeptly blends strength of bone, dairy character, and just all around incredible general appearance.   We particularly love her back structure, long and level like her sisters, but more refined than Fish and just a bit more solid that Desi.  Avalon is really coming into herself this year and we are so excited to get her out into the show ring.  The breeding to Honor should take her long, level, angular general appearance up that extra notch to increase strength and overall size to be more in line with the general appearance we see in Fish.  We’re also expecting improvements in mammary capacity and snug rear udder attachments.

Gandalf is a tall, large-framed, and sharp buck who excels in feet and legs, smoothness of blending, body capacity, and strength of bone.  In his first and so-far only buck show he was Reserve Champion twice in tough Northwest competition.  Multiple herds have now used Gandalf and his kids have demonstrated great consistency in being tall, long, and growthy with superb dairy character and sharpness throughout.  We anticipate well-attached and capacious mammaries on his daughters much like we have come to expect from our Travis daughters—six of which are pictured below.  Gandalf’s littermate twin, GCH Barnowl Golden Compass 2*M quickly finished her star milk record and her championship at her new Kickapoo-Valley home winning 4xGCH and 3xBOB in 2010, including being Illinois State Fair 2010 Best of Breed.

Quantum Leap is the twin to Quantum Magic, our 2008 Spotlight Sale consignment (purchased by Jocelyn Morris).  He is an incredibly handsome buck demonstrating stylish general appearance and a wonderful balance of dairy character and body capacity.  He is long and level with a wide, flat rump, superbly pliable skin and open ribbing, and very strong feet and legs.  And his striking uphill carriage makes him a real eye-catcher in the field. He has a gorgeous head that in recent years has sprouted a fabulous beard making him a much-loved buck by goat and non-goat farm visitor alike!  He was on lease in 2009 and 2010, but we are already getting some great reports back on how lovely his young daughters are!  He will be one of our primary herdsires for the 2011 breeding season, we are looking forward to him delivering on style, general appearance, width throughout, and strong mammary attachments.

Salti is a long, tall young buck that excels in dairy character and refinement of bone.  He now resides in a small, non-show herd, but while he was here was a handsome man to look at and was bred to just a couple does and threw some nice kids.  His dam Corteo was the 2011 Nebraska State and 2011 Minnesota State Champion!  She definitely is one of those classic level, stylish, dairy, and capacious white Tach Lach daughters.  As her new mom Megan Okeson puts it, this doe exhibits “dairy strength,” the unique balance to be very dairy and open, but strong and sturdy enough to be extremely productive for many, many years.

Anteros is an exciting young buck that combines Fish’s size, strength, and style with Gandalf’s refinement and dairy character.  He looks almost identical in color to his dad, even has the white rump spots!  Except as a young 2 year old he is already bigger than his dad–he gets that from his mom!  He was used by a couple local herds and has some very pretty kids on the ground.   We expect him to produce animals that are improvements in size, dairy character, back structure, and mammary system.  Speaking of back structure, he really does have a level topline and rump (appraised E in both categories), but was being a bit of a brat during his photo shoot.
